Chapter 4 Part 1 of COGR's NIH Data Management and Sharing Readiness Guide provides a review of NIH's Final Policy on Data Management and Sharing and identifies implementation challenges related to budgeting, costing considerations, and other topics of concern, which could affect both central administration and PIs/researchers. COGR will continue to engage with NIH on these issues and keep the membership apprised on any developments.

The document illustrates the issue of a single line-item approach to budgeting DMS costs and provides possible approaches institutions may consider. COGR continues to engage with NIH on the issue and other areas that require clarification or additional guidance and will keep the membership updated.
